2 Danks Street Award for Contemporary Art Criticism
In association with Artist Profile Magazine and All for Art: Art For All
The 2 Danks Street Award for Contemporary Art Criticism was established by the permanent galleries of 2 Danks Street Waterloo to foster new writing on, and extend discussion about, the visual arts. This award is being given for writing about exhibitions at galleries in the 2 Danks Street complex.

- The Awards
Two awards will be given.
Overall award: $1,000 for the best overall review of an exhibition at 2 Danks Street Galleries during the period 12 July 2014 to 11 October 2014. The winner of this category will be offered the opportunity to publish in a future edition of Artist Profile.
Alternative award: $500 for a review which shows flair and potential and/or stretches the boundaries of current reviewing, either in style, form or media including video.
The prize is open to all those with an interest or expertise in the visual arts.
Employees of galleries at 2 Danks Street Waterloo are not eligible to enter.
- The task
To write a review of between 1,000 and 1,500 words, or an alternative media event of similar weight, about an exhibition from a permanent gallery at 2 Danks Street. Eligible exhibitions will be held at the following galleries:
– Aboriginal and Pacific Art
– Annette Larkin Fine Art
– Brenda May Gallery
– Janet Clayton Gallery
– Stella Downer Fine Art
– Studio 20/17
– Utopia Art Sydney
Exhibitions at Depot I and Depot II are not eligible unless they are being run by one of the permanent galleries of 2 Danks St.
Initial entries will be shortlisted by 2 Danks Street Gallery Directors. At least two Directors will assess each entry. The shortlist will be submitted to an independent panel including, Owen Craven, Prue Gibson, Dr. Laura Fisher and Dr. Andrew Frost.

The closing date for entries is 15 October 2014.
