The gallery has a broad policy in its representation of contemporary Australian art by supporting emerging, mid-career and established artists.  Painting, drawing and works on paper, including print making, are strongly supported.

The gallery has a commitment to supporting and promoting sculpture and in particular placing works in both urban and rural environments.

Stella Downer has curated Sculpture in the City, an exhibition of sculpture throughout Martin Place, Sydney, October 2002.  She has also curated Sculpture in the Vines, a selection of sculptors showing in the Lower Hunter Valley of NSW.

Stella Downer is a valuer for the Cultural Gifts Program, Department for the Arts, Canberra.
